 SATURDAY 30TH APRIL 2016

A wonderful day once again for the 12th year of celebration of this special day in Nonsuch Park, Cheam. The weather was kind to us, as although the wind was cold at times, the sun shone for most of the time we were there (9 am til 2 pm), so we're feeling blessed!

About 100 friends, students & Tai Chi enthusiasts joined us for some fun & practice in the park.  We were honoured to be joined by a number of excellent instructors to help teach workshops & share their experiences with all who attended.

Tony read the Introductory message from Bill & Angela Douglas, the founders of WTCQD & added his own Healing Message & reminded us that Tai Chi & Qigong is a lifestyle & by teaching others or sharing our art with friends & family, we are choosing to change our lives for the better.

Vicky then led a mass warm up & got everyone into the Qi flow with Tai Chi Essentials before a Mass Tai Chi 24 Forms demonstration which was practiced to the traditional music.  The sound of birdsong along with Chinese music which reverberated over the park was wonderful, as we flowed through the Tai Chi movements together - One World..........One Breath!

We split into smaller groups for some workshops, which were

Chi-Do Chi Kung 5 Elementals by Tony Hardiman
Health Qigong - Ba Duan Jin - 8 Treasures/Brocade & Daoyin Lotus by Vicky Ahern
Health Qigong - Wu Qin Xi - 5 Animals Play by James Norman
Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi - 18 Forms by Leonie Tarratt
Yang Style Traditional Long Form, Section 1 by Kai Cheong, Ashley Cheeseman & Kevin Maloney
Yang Long Form group practice by Dave Wells

After about 20 mins the groups changed around so everyone got to try at least 2 different workshops as well as joining in with the mass Tai Chi demonstration.

Then some demonstrations were given, which were

Martial Applications of Tai Chi 24 Form with Tony, Dan, James & Paul.
Yang Sword Form - Kai, Ashley, Kevin & Tammi.
Taiji Kung Fu Fan Form & Daoyin 12 Step Competition Form by Vicky & her students.
Tai Chi 42 Step Competition Form by James Norman
Yang 32 Sword Form by Tony & Vicky

We finished the day with a cuppa in Nonsuch Pantry & a special treat of cake for some ;-)

One World..........One Breath!

100_0052.JPG

For the 8th consecutive year, Chi Clinic & Friends were in Nonsuch Park @ 10 am to connect with the Healing Energy, practice, play & share the health & wellbeing benefits of Tai Chi & Qigong.

We were a smaller group than of previous years, due to the very wet & rainy weather, although our motto for the day was "there's no such thing as wrong weather, just wrong clothes!'  So in waterproofs, boots, scarves & hats we enjoyed 2.5 hours of practice in the drizzle & between rain-clouds.  It was so good to get outside after a week of heavy rain & see how nature was soaking it up after our recent drought, everything so green, so bright & alive.

After Vicky's welcome & Opening Statement from the founders, Bill Douglas & Angela Wong-Douglas, we had a group warm up & practiced some basic movements. Tony then guided us in sending Healing Energy to any who may need it.  We all joined in with the practice of Tai Chi 24 Forms 3 times then were given demonstrations of Taiji Kung Fu Fan by Vicky & students, Taijijian (32 Sword) by Irvin, Tony & Vicky, Taiji Sabre by Irvin Morris of Longfei Taijiquan Assoc, Wu Style Short Form by Peter Ling of Energy Arts, Chi-Do Martial Applications against boken & jo by Master Tony with Paul Smith, Simon Nell & James Norman, James showed the form he has created from his practice of Chi-Do & Tai Chi, Vicky & Marta Arce-Dubois both BHQA instructors, with a group of dedicated students performed Ba Duan Jin (8 Treasures) Health Qigong.  After this everyone joined in as Vicky took the group through Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi (18 Forms) to end in stillness & appreciation of the moment, nature around us & ourselves.

We then got together in Nonsuch Cafe for some refreshments, a good chat & catch up.

Our 7th year in Nonsuch Park was enjoyed by approx. 200 friends & visitors (our largest event yet!).  The day started at 10 am with Tony reading the Opening Statement from Founders, Bill & Angela Douglas, followed by a mass warm up & healing circle to join in with the wave of Healing Energy started in New Zealand & to focus on those around the world that are less fortunate than ourselves.  Everyone then joined in a mass demonstration of Tai Chi 24 Forms which was repeated 3 times.  The feeling of practicing in the natural beauty of our local park, with the trees all around, everyone moving & breathing together, is a joy & gift to be experienced!  A variety of Tai Chi & Qigong was enjoyed & some very powerful demonstrations were given by Darren Trottman & Heather McLean of Southern Crane Kung Fu & Tai Chi, Alex Swainton of John Ding Academy of Traditional Yang Style, Peter Ling of Bruce Frantzis' Wu Style, Veronica Ashcroft of Longfei Taijiquan Assoc, together with Tony of the Chi Clinic performed Modern Beijing 32 Taijijian (Sword), Tony together with Paul Smith, Simon Nell, Rab Paton, James Norman, Aman Sookdewo showed their Chi-Do Martial Arts applications & Iron Shirt Chi Kung.  What a truly wonderful & memorable day of sharing, playing, learning & experiencing!

DSCF0076.JPG

We are always pleased to welcome other clubs, large and small to come along and join us on this very enjoyable day.  It is very interesting to us and all present to see such a variety of arts in the demonstrations.  If you wish to show your art, then please let Tony know and have a small introduction piece drafted out to read over the tannoy.

We are finding that some leave at about 1 oc to have lunch and maybe, do not come back.  For those I would say that we often have one to one and sharing with spontaneous small groups getting together.  We cannot organise everything beforehand and lose this aspect.  As long as the weather is Ok we will stay on into the afternoon.
